HMIMMS: Major Incident Medical Management & Support (The Practical Approach in the Hospital)
Program:
Includes lectures, skills, workshops and table-top exercises.
Course Structure:
Course manual to be read and studied before attending the course. Lectures are structured around essential major
incident topics. Practical workshops covers important skills and scenario-based teaching covers the management of
important emergency conditions.
Assessment:
A pre-course MCQ (online) must be completed prior to the course commencing (80% pass). Continued assessments takes
place at each of the workshops, including graded assessments throughout the course. A post-course MCQ must be passed
at the end of the couse.

This course is for those who will serve in a key role in the hospital response to a disaster, and includes doctors,
senior nurses and managers.

FEC: Fundamentals of Emergency Care (two days)
Program:
The aim of this course is to improve the knowledge of Emergency Medicine throughout the country. To refresh
procedures and skills related to the management of emergency conditions (16 CPD points).

Course Structure:
The manual must be read and studied before the course attendance. Lectures are on essential topics and practical
workshops will cover important skills. Scenario-based teaching will cover the management of important emergency
conditions
Assessment:
MCQ written on arrival, which the candidate must pass (75% to pass). Assessments are done at each of the workshops,
with formal assessment at 2 of 12 scenarios of which at least one must be passed (remedial MCQ and scenario
available if not passed).
